Story Collider August 12 at 8 pm.
Stories by:
KELLI DUNHAM, Comic, Nurse, Ex-Nun
CYNDI FREEMAN, Story Teller & Burlesque performer
DANIELA SCHILLER, Neuroscientist and Drummer
...BRIAN WECHT, String Theorist and Ninja
JULI-ANNE WHITNEY, Writer and Political Consultant
Jumping from person to person, growing exponentially, they sweep across the world. Epidemics take many forms: Some are terrible diseases, destroying entire populations. Some are debilitating fears, ideas that paralyze or destroy the mind. And some are just bad jokes about Barack Obama that live forever in forwarded e-mails, never fully vanishing from the internet no matter how many times you delete those messages from your Uncle Dave.
The Story Collider brings together lobbyists, researchers, musicians, and other disreputable types to tell us personal stories about the times when, for good or ill, science happened.
Join us for five stories about Epidemics and how they spread; 8pm August 12th at Pacific Standard; 82 Fourth Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn. No cover, no drink minimum.
Hosted by Ben Lillie and Brian Wecht

Further Fortnight of Fury update
Thanks to all of you who have started doing the Further Fortnight of Fury. Two pieces of good news:
1. We can't for the life of us find star stickers, which is ridiculous to me. Do the kids today need more excitement than a simple star? Anyway, we have other cute stickers to adorn your cards now. Be sure to have your bartender sticker up your card for each beer you have (or you can apply the stickers yourself).
2. We've introduced a new award level in addition to the 40-beer level. Those who can't make it as much but can manage to have 20 beers over this half-month will still get fun, if more modest prizes (see the list of stuff below). So don't lose faith, those of you who have gotten a late start.
See you here, valiant imbibers.

Sixpoint Signal belated tapping Friday at 5 pm.
Due to distribution problems, we didn't get to tap the Sixpoint Signal beer on Tuesday as hoped. But all of us Good Beer Seal bars will tap it on Friday at 5 pm instead. Come by to taste its splendor here. Plus, hey, The Fortnight will be on by then. That is all.

The Further Fortnight of Fury.
As many of you know, an astounding variety of completely random woes have beset our bar in recent months. (The Christmas Pig must still be out there--please destroy all traces of him wherever you find him). We're now asking you, friends of the bar, to lend us a helping hand in our battle against the array of revenuers, corrupt city employees, and bucket-throwing drunks who have cost us money. By drinking, of course. Yes, that's right: a new Fortnight of Fury is indeed upon us. From July 15 until the end of the month, you are hereby challenged to come here and drink as much beer as is (responsibly) possible. If pure love of the Standard is not enough to motivate you, we have all kinds of incredibly awesome stuff we've collected over the years to give to the top five finishers (plus we will definitely throw you some kind of party). Anyone, in fact, who is able to drink over 40 beers over the course of the fortnight (we're being pretty loose here, and allowing you until the end of July, a couple extra days), will get some fun items, depending on what Pacific Standard stuff you may have/not have already. A short and by no means complete list:
--Pacific Standard logo beer cozies
--Pacific Standard iron-on patches
--Pacific Standard t-shirts
--Pacific Standard pint glasses/growlers
--Fancy microbrewery signs
--Other vintage signs left over from this building's days as a sign store
--Vintage baseball cards and games!
--Our first-ever Pacific Standard beer journals! These books are a handsome way for you microbrew fans to log the different beers you drink and write in comments about their taste, where you had them, who you were drinking them with, how that person won't wipe the stupid grin off their face, etc.
Ask your bartender starting tomorrow for a Fortnight of Fury tracking sheet, and let the sparkly stars, and the feeling of self-worth from helping a worthy cause, accumulate!

Story Collider tomorrow at 8 pm.
We've all heard tales of parallel universes, the worlds that are right next to ours, but incomprehensibly different. And at The Story Collider, we know that they exist. They're all around us - from the countless bacteria on your skin and in your body, to the three people right next to you on the subway, to the Star Trek induced dreams of Utopia - and they're never quite what we expect. Join The Story Collider for six stories of separate worlds and what happens when they come together.
The Story Collider Run 3, "Parallel Universes"; 8pm July 15 at Pacific Standard; 82 Fourth Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn. No cover, no drink minimum.
The Story Collider brings together web designers, researchers, musicians, and other disreputable types to tell us personal stories about the times when, for good or ill, science happened.

World Cup 3rd Place Game and Final Info.
So Uruguay will face Germany in the World Cup third-place game on Saturday at 2:30 pm, and in the main event, Spain will face the Netherlands in the final on Sunday at 2:30 pm. We'll be open at noon both days, but regulating the crowd by counting heads at the door if needed, so you should come as early as possible to be sure to get seats and space. In other words, don't go blaming us if you show up 10 minutes into the first half of the final and we're not letting anyone in. On the other hand, we promise a great and not-too-crowded time for our punctual brethren. See you soon and go Netherlands, defeat your colonial masters!

Mimsy Backline Storytelling Monday at 8 pm.
Mimsy goes to its improv roots!
Join us at Pacific Standard on Monday, July 12 at 8PM to witness the first-ever Backline Storytelling show. Performers take a suggestion from the audience and tell true tales based on that suggestion, with following stories taking cues on larger themes and bigger pictures.
As an experimental workshop form, Mimsy is proud to present Backline Storytelling as one of its "house" structures in the storytelling medium. It's not just one person at a time anymore -- it's a free-for-all filled with entertaining, autobiographical stories.

The debut of Sixpoint's Signal smoked beer on July 13.
As a Good Beer Seal member, Pacific Standard will one of the few bars getting a very limited-edition Sixpoint beer made specifically for Good Beer Month, their Signal smoked beer. The early details: it's a fruity beer which is light enough for summer drinking with just the faintest, nearly imperceptible hint of smoke. We'll debut it simultaneously with other Good Beer Seal bars, on Tuesday, July 13. You can also hear us on the radio briefly--Pacific Standard and some other bars will be calling in to report on the tapping of this new beer in a "Simultap" episode of Beer Sessions Radio. The show starts at 5; we'll be on at 5:20. Link here:

Very rare, very fancy.
We just got a few much-coveted bottles (bottles!) of an amazing Sixpoint beer. To wit:
Sixpoint Grand Cru (Brooklyn, NY; $19/22 oz). This extremely rare bottled beer from Sixpoint has notes of raisins, figs, honey, caramel, Belgian candy sugar, and roasted malts. 12.4%.
Come by soon, since these will sell out fast.
