Topsham Pantsuit Will Be Crowded.

Topsham Pantsuit is still on for next Wednesday, February 4, with a terrific lineup of comics who have been nice enough to do a free show at our humble little bar. These noble souls include Kristen Schaal, Gabe & Jenny, John Marshall, Rob Paravonian, Michael Kupperman, and Ted Travelstead.

The main purpose of this announcement is to give you folks advance warning that you should come VERY EARLY if you want to be sure to get seats. We're almost certain we'll run out of space in the back room at some point, since there's been a lot of word-of-mouth and print publicity about this event, and it is, after all, free. But if we all squeeze in patiently, nobody will get hurt. See you soon!

Ommegang Obamagang Inauguration Ale

is now in stock. The words:

Ommegang Obamagang Inauguration Ale (Cooperstown, NY; $7/12 oz). This celebratory ale is a cross between a porter and a stout, with a bit of Belgian Kriek yeast and a touch of chocolate blended in, and an underlying cherry fruitiness. Ommegang will donate a percentage of sales to charities in the respective cities where the beer is sold. 6.7% ABV.

Cattaneo Bros. Beef Jerky now in stock!

We are desperately excited to announce that we now have Cattaneo Bros. beef jerky at Pacific Standard. We've loved this San Luis Obispo jerky since we were kids; it puts that artificial, sugary corner-store jerky to shame. The incredibly juicy, thin slices are marinated in apple cider vinegar, and dried in old-fashioned smokehouse ovens. Since 1947, Cattaneo Bros. has been one of the only true jerky factories in the world, making all-natural, handmade jerky that's also 97% fat free and has no carbs or sugar.

Come here quick and enjoy a package (it's $6 for a bag that makes a great snack for two or three people), or we're going to eat it all and test the limits of individual beefiness in ways other than our manly good looks.

Hangar One Vodkas and Anchor Junipero Gin.

We're happy to announce that we've finally made good on one of our long-standing promises and acquired bottles of an earth-shatteringly good vodka from the East Bay (Alameda, specifically), Hangar One, in both the regular and Kaffir Lime varieties. It's a true artisanal vodka, which really shows up in the subtle, complex flavors.

Another new Bay Area addition is Anchor's Junipero Gin, which has garnered all kinds of praise for being one of the best American gins available. Eric Asimov from the New York Times:

“Smooth, clean and very dry with assertive, classic flavors of juniper and citrus: a martini with one eyebrow raised."

Come by and try one of these spirits; they both stand up amazingly by themselves, or in a well-mixed cocktail (we're developing a new list including these two, and the Rogue rums we got in stock a few weeks ago).

Details on Our Inauguration Day Party Tuesday, January 20.

As many of you know, we'll be opening at 11 am on Tuesday, January 20 to show Barack Hussein Obama's inauguration on our two big projection screens. We'll have inaugural decorations (bunting!) and a potluck of various food items for people to graze on. Drink-wise, we'll have fresh-made pint-size Bloody Marys for $7, $3 pints of a couple different varieties of microbrew all day/night (since it is a Tuesday), and our usual $1 off happy hour from the time we open until 8 pm. In other words, we're going to inaugurate the crap out of this place. See you next week.
