2009 Goose Island Bourbon County Stout

is now on, replacing our much-loved cellared 2008 keg. But we think you'll find the 2009 edition of Bourbon County Stout quite pleasing as well. The details:

Goose Island Bourbon County Stout (Chicago, IL; $8/8 oz). Goose Island has been releasing this highly anticipated beer once every year for the last seventeen years. The 2009 batch kicks things up a notch; it's aged for ten months in sixteen-year-old bourbon barrels. This process allows the liquid to pick up its intense charred oak, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and smoke flavors. 13.0% ABV.

Had 2009 BCS last night at the "home office" in Chicago. This one drinks better young than the 2008 (great after a year) did. By the way, Dark Lord Day 2010 was just announced for 4/24--who's with me?

Very tempting. Very very tempting. If I end up going out to California around then, I could stop by on the way there or back.
