An earlier poetry reading on the 6th, too!

New York Carleton Club Presents...Poetry Night!

Please join us on December 6th at 7pm at the Pacific
Standard Bar in Brooklyn to hear readings from (and
drink with!) Chris Martin '00 and Ted Mathys '01!

Ted Mathys graduated from Carleton with a degree in
international relations. Between tippling in the
shadow of the Berlin Wall, camping on the Great Wall
of China , and gluing his over-determined comps to the
stairwell wall in Willis, he began writing poems. His
first collection, Forge, was published by Coffee House
Press in 2005, and a second book, Surface to Air, will
appear from Coffee House in 2009. A recipient of
fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts
and the New York Foundation for the Arts, he now lives
in Brooklyn .

Since getting his start as a rapper during Reed
Wallsmith sets at the Cave in the late 1990s, Chris
Martin has lived in San Francisco, St. Paul, and
Brooklyn, where he now resides. He is the author of
American Music, the 2006 winner of the Hayden Carruth
Award selected by C.D. Wright. He is proud to be part
of the Carleton Renaissance, including Karl Krause,
Ted Mathys, Amanda Nadelberg and countless others.

Pacific Standard (www.pacificstandardbrooklyn.com) is
located 82 Fourth Avenue (St. Marks and Bergen), just
steps away from the B/D/N/Q/R/2/3/4/5/LIRR trains at
Atlantic/Pacific, and a little farther away from the
C/F/G trains.
