The Boozy Baker Release Party July 8.

On Thursday, July 8, starting at 7 pm, we'll have a release party for The Boozy Baker:

As you can see from the cover, it's a book of recipes for alcoholic desserts. Needless to say, some of these alcoholic desserts will be here for the release party, and all are welcome to sample them while supplies last. (After they run out, we suppose you can just drop Gummi Bears into your margaritas.) You can also talk to the author, Lucy, who will be giving a five-minute talk, and buy the book if you'd like. It should be a lot of gourmet fun.

Brand new 30th anniversary beer from Sierra.

We managed to get our hands on the second of four very special one-offs from Sierra Nevada, brewed in honor of their 30th anniversary. This is the only time you'll be able to drink this beer, and we don't have much of it, so come in ASAP to try it! The details:

Sierra Nevada Charlie, Fred, and Ken's Lager (Chico, CA; $7/12 oz). Charlie Papazian and Fred Eckhart's writing on the art of homebrewing and steadfast promotion of beer culture helped propel the craft brewing movement. They worked with Sierra's Ken Grossman on this special ale in honor of Sierra's 30th anniversary. This Imperial Helles Lager is bold yet balanced with distinct toasted malt character, moderate sweetness, and clean and floral hops. 8.3% ABV.

Mimsy on Tuesday the 15th at 8 pm.

Mimsy presents its Arts show, dedicated to all things that could be misconstrued as bad life choices, horrible college majors, pretentious notions of the human condition while looking at paint or listening to music, and of course, inanimate objects that potentially move you.

Nah, but really, we like the Arts.

More Good Beer Month info

From the Good Beer Seal folks, who just inducted Pacific Standard as a member bar:

The Good Beer Seal Celebrates July Good Beer Month 2010

July 2009, Mayor Bloomberg issued a proclamation that July is Good Beer Month in New York City. In July 2010, Bloomberg will continue to support community conscious small businesses in NYC with another Mayoral Proclamation. Indeed, July is Good Beer Month!

On May 25 of 2010, The Good Beer Seal inducted 12 new bars into its membership, swelling its ranks from 15 to 27. During July Good Beer Month, Good Beer Seal member bars in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx will be celebrating with special in-bar events, tastings, beer and food pairings, and special brewery nights. Lovers of Good Beer will be encouraged to visit all 27 Good Beer Seal bars during the month of July with the July Good Beer Month Pub Crawl Cards, which will be available in member bars. In addition to these bar-centric events, The Good Beer Seal will host Meatopia: BBQ NYC, a blowout BBQ event with Sixpoint Craft Ales on Governors Island to benefit Just Food and SlowFood NYC on July 11. Several members of The Good Beer Seal will be collaborating with Sixpoint on an exclusive smoked ale that will debut at member bars immediately following the July 11 event. The beer and food pairing extravaganza, Good Beer at BAM with Edible Manhattan, will round out the month-long celebration on July 28. For events calendars, links and further information go to goodbeerseal.com.

The Good Beer Seal is an association of New York craft beer bars who serve, promote and support good, craft beer. July Good Beer Month is a month long celebration of craft beer, craft beer drinkers, and the bars who love them.

Good Beer at BAM in July.

From our buddies at Edible magazine, who are hosting the event:

Drink Beer in July

On July 28, the eminent epicures behind the city's Edible mag empire throw their second annual beer bash at BAM, as part of the city-sanctioned July Good Beer month. The unforgettable evening boasts a baker's dozen of regional breweries, and a few thrown in from the Old World, paired up with perfect beer food from pretzels to Empire State seafood crudo, and from steak house schmaltz to curbside pizza.
