"Fallen Angels," a reading on July 22 at 8 pm, will feature writers Iris Lee, Evelyn Lampart, Tanja, and Melanie O'Harra. Longtime residents of Brooklyn, each of these writers bring a different background to their work, including visual arts, poetry, and theater.

First anniversary on September 5.

Just a heads-up that our first anniversary will be Friday, September 5, and will be off the proverbial chain. At the very least:

--We will be debuting the first ever, impossibly handsome, Pacific Standard t-shirt. --We will have special beers and beer specials.

Movie night update/pitcher specials!

Our first two movie nights have gone very nicely. If you haven't checked them out yet, you really should. And to sweeten the deal, we've decided to offer pitchers, which we almost never do for any reason, at $2 off the price of four pints of the beer, only during movie nights. Sit down with a pitcher, some food, and enjoy one or both of the films.

We've got beach movies tonight, and car movies on July 21 (see description below). Plus, we're instituting a movie night special: pitchers (which we almost never do) of microbrews will be $2 off!

Drive! Drive! Drive! At 8pm, buckle up for a white knuckle ride through the desert as business commuter Dennis Weaver tries to escape from the malevolent truck out to kill him in Steven Spielberg’s first film, Duel (1971), 90mins. Then, at 10pm, Barry Newman takes a bet that he can deliver a 1970 Dodge Charger from Denver to San Francisco in 15 hours. Amped on amphetamines and chased by the highway patrol, he’s going to take you on one hell of a ride, in Richard Sarafian’s Vanishing Point (1971), 98mins.

Just in time for the long weekend, we're fully stocked with mint Its-Its. So drop by and grab a few on your way to whatever barbecue or rooftop party you're participating in.

And have a great weekend, in any case! Many of you are out of town, but Jon and I will be holding down the fort as usual, enjoying the lovely ghost-town that is New York on 4th of July weekend. It's like getting to hang out in Disneyland without all the people. Time to do everything we always wanted to do but didn't because of the crowds or lines.
